In 1891, Bertha Pickering, 12, was shown as a domestic to Caleb and Minnie Merrit of Burford, Oxford South, Ontario, Canada. Her date of birth and immigration year are not stated.

On July 29, 1896, at Barnardos House, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, Bertha Pickering, 17, servant, died of consumption, 1-1/2 years duration.

Funeral services were held at Barnardos Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, Home.

Bertha is buried at Little Lake Cemetery, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, along with 46 other Barnardo children who were a part of Hazlebrae House.
