Burroughs, 29, butcher/manager; and Thomas Spencer, 24; butchers assistant, at 44 Wood Street, Brighton, Essex, England.
In 1911, Bertha was shown as an inmate in Miss Ryes Home in Niagara, Ontario, Canada.
On August 6, 1918, a marriage was recorded for Bertha Pickup and George Harold Benjamin Smith, 23, a warehouseman who had been born in England. He declared his parents names were Sidney James and Sarah Smith. Bertha declared that she was 22, born in England, without occupation and her father's name was James Pickup. She did not know her mother's name.
