NotesHarry Pope, aged 11, admitted to Lambeth Workhouse on April 28, 1900, discharged on May 2, 1900, to Lambeth Union Schools,

On May 28, 1902, he was discharged into the care of Dr Barnardo's Home.

His siblings were also admitted at the same time to the Union Homes with him. Lewis, born 1892, no discharge info given; George, born 1886, originally discharged on June 7, 1900, from Lambeth Workhouse to his Aunt, then readmitted from June 7 - July 11, 1900. On July 11, 1900, he was given over to the care of Exmouth Training Ship.

Their relatives were given as: Sister - Mrs Ling, 911 Cornwall Road, Lambeth; Father - James Pope, Renfrew Road Workhouse; and Aunt - 37 Hermans St, Wandsworth.

In 1902, Harry Pope, 11, arrived at Boston, Massachusetts, USA, in a large group of 395 Barnardo children en route to Toronto and Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

On September 19, 1914, at Valcartier Camp, Ontario, Canada, Harry William Pope, 23, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was born in London, England; that his next of kin was his sister, Alice Ling, who resided at 6 Great Charlotte, London, England; that his date of birth was June 17, 1889; that he was a tinsmith; and that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 6-1/4 inches in height; medium complexion; blue eyes; dark brown hair. He was a member of the Church of England. He had a birthmark on the back of his head; several moles on the front of his abdomen; and a large mole at the base of his neck at the back.
