1911 Canadian Census records place Ernest H. Porter as a Hired Boy in the household of Elizabeth and Levi Beam in Welland, Ontario. Ernest was born in Apr 1894 and immigrated from England in 1905.

31 Aug 1915 in Welland, Ontario there was a marriage between Ernest Porter and Pearl Mary Michael. Ernest lists his father's name as Henry, but his mother's name is left blank.

1921 Canadian Census records place Ernest Porter as married to Pearl Mary Porter in Chippawa, Welland, Ontario. Ernest is married, having been born in England in 1894, his year of immigration is difficult to decipher. The couple has two children, George Leonard and Dorothy Pearl.

It was reported in the January 1933 edition of Ups and Downs, on Page 6 under the heading 'Personal Jottings', that a lady from England visiting Niagara Falls hired a taxi driver who's name was E. H. Porter. He tells her of his great opportunity coming to Canada.
