Notes In 1893, Thomas Rayment, 15, arrived at Portland, Maine, USA, in a group of 252 Barnardo children accompanied by Mr. Owen and en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
The death of Thomas is recorded in the July 1900 edition of Ups and Downs:
Scarcely less sudden was the call that came to Thomas Rayment aged twenty-two, and the cause of death was again pneumonia following influenza. He had appeared to rally from the influenza, but a relapse occurred, and the collapse with the compication of pneumonia brought on the end very rapidly. Our poor friend was buried on April 12th. Everything possible seems to have been done for him during his illness by Mr. and Mrs. Dormer, with whom he was living.
The death of Thomas Raymond, 20, farmer, born in England, was registered on April 10, 1900, at Valentia, Victoria, Ontario, Canada. Cause of death was pneumonia.
