NotesMy grandmother and her seven brothers and sisters; George Thomas, Richard Henry, Alfred William, Ernest Frederick, Emma Elizabeth, Elizabeth Evelyn, and Herry P., were orphaned when her father George Thomas and her mother Emily Alice (nee Goddard) died in 1916 and 1922 respectively.

The older children spent some time in the Chase Farm Workhouse (through the Edmonton Guardian) and then moved on. The youngest - Elizabeth, Georgina and Herry were sent to the Chase Farm School.

Georgina (7 years) and Elizabeth (15 years)were sent to Canada, I do not know what became of Herry. He was young (4), so he was perhaps adopted. My grandmother and her sister were sent to the Salvation Army receiving home in Toronto. From there my grandmother Georgina was sent to the Woods family in London, Ontario and her sister was "employed" by O.H. Ryder of Lakehead, Ontario (I just found this recently). After that I can find no trace of Elizabeth.

I would very much like to know anything anyone can offer about the family that was left in England and Elizabeth's here in Canada.
