Violet arrived aged 13 and was placed at Fairbridge Farm School, Pinjarra, Western Australia. He was one of 160 children who came to Australia aboard ‘Ballarat’ in 1928. 115 went to Fairbridge WA, the remainder on to Sydney.

Violet died in 2004 aged 89 and is memorialised at Karrakatta Cemetery. Her husband Norman died in 1973 aged 69.
