5 Dec 1913 in Newmarket, Ontario there is a birth record for Edward Henry Riordan. Parents are named Elizabeth Jane Stone and William Edward Riordan.

Attestation papers were signed 15 Jun 1915 in Niagara, Ontario. Edward Riordan was born 1 Aug 1890 in Reading, Berkshire, England. His Next of Kin was Mrs. Edward Riordan of Newmarket, Ontario. He was a Labourer by trade. He had previous Military experience with the Canadian Militia. 5' 7 1/2" in height with brown hair and brown eyes, he had two vaccination marks on his left arm. Commonwealth War Graves Registers and Circumstances of Casualty confirm he was Killed in Action in an attack north of Passchendaele. His Next of Kin was Mrs. Jane Riordan of 312 Duffrin Street, Toronto, Ontario, and the Mrs. Jane Harmon (remarried) of Box 458, Newmarket, Ontario but in 1929 grave register was returned undelivered. His body was unrecovered, his name is written on the Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres, West Flanders, Belgium.
