In the 1911 Canadian Census Alfred C. Rix age 12 years, born in Oct 1898 listed as 'Home Boy' who immigrated from England. He is in the household of William F Gilliard, 36, wife Annie E, 31, and son Ralph, 2. They are located in in Bosanquet, Lambton East, Ontario.

Attestation papers were signed on 14 March 1916 in Forest, Ontario. Charles Alfred Rix was born 17 October 1897 Norwich, Norfolk, England. He gave his Next of Kin as his sister, Mrs Charles Cruzen, 68 Potter Field, Unthank Road, Norwich. He was a farmer residing in Forest, Ontario. 5'3" in height with hazel eyes and black hair. He was Methodist by religion.

Commonwealth War Graves Registers and Circumstances of Casualty state that he was Killed in Action at an attack at Upton Wood. His Next of Kin was confirmed as Mrs C.
