NotesIn 1911, Alec Rowswell, 12 (along with brother, Frederick Rowswell, 8) arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 63 Roman Catholic children en route to Wellington, Ontario, Canada.

Alic was the son of William Henry Robert Rowswell and Rossetta Caroline Mary Ray. He was the brother of May Florence, Violet, William Frederick, Frank Henry, Bertie, John Stansbury, Frederick, Edith, Ivy and Edward. There were 12 children total in the family. William died young leaving Rossetta alone with the children to care for. In 1911 Rossetta is found living as a widow with several of her children. Frederick and his brother Alic were sent to live at the St. Joseph's home for Catholic boys in Holtwhite Hill, Enfield. Rossetta couldn't afford to care for these boys and the agreement was the boys could go there provided they be kept together and educated. Neither of those things happened they were separated not educated and beaten if they were too tired to say the Rosary. (according to the daughter of Alic). The boys were sent to Canada. Where they were placed there is not yet known. Eventually the two boys would return to England, Frederick came back in 1926. Alic returned in 1932.

Alic married Winnifred Evelina Bree on August 17 1935 in St. Peters Port, Guernsey, England. Together they had three children, Suzanne, Maurice and Carol. Suzanne was born in 1936 and died as an infant.
