In 1911, Andrew Atkinson, 52, wife Sarah, 44, and Sadie Taylor, 13, niece, Clifford Ruffel, 14, labourer, in Nassagaweya, Halton, Ontario

On December 23rd 1915, Clifford William Ruffell, born in Croydon on July 28th 1898, enlisted in the Canadian Army at Seaforth, he declared his next of kin as Mother-Mrs E Ruffell, March Cottage, Midhurst, Sussex, England, he stated he resided with Wm Martin, Seaforth, Ontario

Private C W Ruffell was recorded as killed in action on 26 October 1917, he is remembered on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium
