Notes William (my grandfather) was the eldest of three children who were sent to Canada in the early 1900s. He worked on three farms in Ontario. His Barnardo records detail an unhappy time at the first two farms. He 'disappeared' at age 14 four years after arriving. He never met with his two siblings who were also placed in Ontario at a later date. He arrived back in England in 1915 to enlist for the war. After starting a family in England, he returned to Canada for a spell of ten years or so (1927 - 37) in the Croton, Ontario area, where he had his one happy rememberance. Finally he returned to his family in England in 1937. He died in 1941.
