Walter Ernest and his brother Stanley Francis were placed in Leopold House in England, as their mother was unable to care for them financially.

In 1913, Walter Henry Sadler, 12 (along with his brother, Stanley Francis Sadler, 10) arrived at Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, in a group of 171 Barnardo boys en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

On June 24, 1924, at Toronto, York, Canada, a marriage was registered between Walter Ernest Sadlier, 23, paper handler, born in England to Walter H. Sadlier and Edith Baxter; and Robina Melvina Cole, 23, stenographer, born in Ontario, Canada, to Corven L. Cole and Annie Ross. Walter's brother, Stanley Sadlier was a witness to the marriage.

Walter Ernest Sadlier died April 24, 1983.
