In 1921, Percy Sales, 16, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 134 Barnardo children en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He declared that his current occupation was as a bootmaker; that his intended occupation was to do farm work; that he was born in London, England; that his passage was paid by Dr. Barnardo's Homes; that he was destined to his friend, Mr. J. W. Hobday, 50-52 Peter Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada; that his nearest relation was his mother, Miss Alice Sales (address not known).

Percy was first placed with Thomas A. Armstrong, Ridgetown, R.1., Orford, Kent, Ontario, Canada.

A juvenile inspector reported [T-15425]:

SALES, Percy, 16, 1921 Barnardo's: 2 placements in Kent Co... Emp. stated Percy is a handy boy, smart to learn and as a rule only needs to be shown... Boy is fond of farm work and hopes some day to have a place of his own.

On October 15, 1927, at Ontario, Canada, Percy Sales married Ellen Marie Burch (daughter of Joseph James Burch and Alice Marie McIntyre).

At least six children were born of this marriage including: Doris Sales, born and died September 17, 1951, in Kent County, Ontario, Canada; James Percival Sales, born June 1, 1931, in Highgate, Ontario, Canada, died February 23, 1994 in Chatham, Ontario, Canada; Mary Alise Sales, born July 18, 1933 in Blenheim, Ontario, Canada, died August 10, 1992 in Chatham, Ontario, Canada; and Elvin Robert Sales, born June 6, 1941 in Blenheim, Ontario, Canada, died April 12, 1957 in Public General Hospital, Chatham, Ontario.
