Frederick Savage and brother Edwin were admitted to Lambeth Workhouse on August 9, 1899, along with their mother, Alice, who was discharged on August 11, 1899. The same day, the children were brought back into Lambeth Workhouse, their parents having deserted them.

The boys were discharged to Lambeth Union Schools on August 14, 1899.

Frederick was discharged to Dr Barnardos on August 1, 1900.

In 1900, Frederick Savage, 11, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 101 Barnardo boys en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
