A death registration was found for Harry Sayell: Estimated Birth Year: abt 1872; Year of Registration: 1902; Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec; Age at Death: 30; District: Leighton Buzzard; County: Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire; Volume: 3b; Page: 241.

In 1906 Walter Sayell, 11, arrived at Portland, Maine, USA, along with a group of 188 children en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. (His sister, Edith Sayell, 10, also arrived in August, 1906 on the Dominion; and his younger brothers, Thomas and Harry Sayell, arrived on the Corinthian in 1913.)

In 1911, Walter Sayell, 16, is shown as a hired boy / labourer for Walter Leonard and family in Pelham, Welland, Ontario, Canada. His date of birth is shown as October 1894 and his immigration year as 1906.

On August 2, 1915, Walter Sayell enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was born in Leighton Buzzard, England; that his next of kin was Mrs. Fred Mead, who resided at Fitch Street, Welland, Ontario, Canada; that his date of birth was March 9, 1895; that he was a farmer; that he was not married; and that he had previous served in the 44th Regiment. He was described as 5 foot 3 inches in height; light complexion; blue eyes; brown hair. He was a member of the Baptist faith.

On April 6, 1916, Sarah Lantaff Sayell Mead, 40 years of age, died of shock and hemorrhage due to childbirth, at Welland County General Hospital, Welland, Ontario, Canada. She was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Shortly after the end of World War One, the Leighton Buzzard Observer published a list of men from Leighton Buzzard who had served during the conflict in either the army or the navy. The lists were published in consecutive editions of the paper from 18th March 1919 to 5th August 1919:
