Emily arrived aged 9 and was placed at Fairbridge Farm School, Pinjarra, Western Australia. She was one of 160 children who came to Australia aboard ‘Ballarat’ in 1928. 115 went to Fairbridge WA, the remainder on to Sydney.

She died aged 81 and is memorialised at Midland Cemetery with her husband Harold who died in 1969 aged 55.
