On June 4 1909, Daniel Shorter, 29, born London, Middlesex, attempted to enter the USA via Detroit from Canada, his last residence was Havelock, Ontario. He was heading to Detroit, Michigan. He stated his passage was paid by Marchmend Home (possibly should say Marchmont Home). He was refused entry as being 'Likely Public Charge' and was advised of his right of appeal.
