In 1901, Jacob Sine, 49, wife Matilda, 41, and children Ida May, 11, and domestic Daniel Shorter, 20, in Rawdon, Hastings, Ontario

On June 4 1909, Daniel Shorter, 29, born London, Middlesex, attempted to enter the USA via Detroit from Canada, his last residence was Havelock, Ontario. He was heading to Detroit, Michigan. He stated his passage was paid by Marchmend Home (possibly should say Marchmont Home). He was refused entry as being 'Likely Public Charge' and was advised of his right of appeal.

On March 4 1914, Daniel Alfred Shorter, 36, born England, son of John Shorter and Matilda McVicar, married Elizabeth Elmhirst nee Toms, 44, in Havelock, Peterborough, Ontario

On January 7 1916, Daniel Alfred Shorter, born December 7th 1871 London, enlisted in Canadian Army, he gave his next of kin as wife Elizabeth, Havelock, Ontario

On Feb 8 1919, Daniel A Shorter returned to Canada on SS Carmania after serving overseas
