NotesWilliam Charles Shuffill was baptized on April 26, 1876, at St. James, Bermondsey, London, England. Parents: William Shuffill and Harriet Woolley; no marriage record found.

A death registration was found for Harriett Shuffill: Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1881 Age at Death: 29; Registration district: St Olave Southwark; County: London; Volume: 1d; Page: 170.

A death registration was found for William Shuffill: Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1884; Age at Death: 59; Registration district: Camberwell; Registration County: London; Volume: 1d; Page: 487.

In 1887, William Shuffill, 14 (along with brother Rose Shuffill, 11), arrived in Canada in a group of 115 Middlemore children accompanied by Mr. John T. Middlemore and en route to the Guthrie Home, London, Ontario, Canada.

Upon arrival in Canada, he was sent to the farm of Mr. Arthur Mayne; Lot 1, Con. B, Tp. London, Co. Mead, P.O. Gore. He was re-established at the same farm with Mr. Mayne again on June 24, 1888 for 1 year.

William Shuffill emigrated to the United States in 1893 and was naturalized on February 21, 1921.

On September 12, 1918, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, William Charles Shuffill, 45, registered for the US Draft. He declared that his date of birth was January 12, 1873; that he resided at 1511 A, Lawrence Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; that he was a naturalized citizen; that his nearest relative was Mrs. Auwaerter of 1511 N Lawrence Street Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and that he was a molder for Hill Independent Mfg. at 2001 Adams St, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was described as short; medium build; black eyes and hair. He had a crippled left hand.
