Oct /88 agreement signed by Mr. Snell to keep boy till 21. Board, lodging, washing and clothing $200. Visited by Mr. Barthrop.
24/9/88 This boy is in first rate care and very happy and comfortable in his place. Mr. and Mrs. Snell treat him very much as their own son and he has excellent prospects. His employer had a little trouble with him last summer, but he is now conducting himself in a perfectly satisfactory manner. 27/7/89 Thanks Dr. Barnardo for his prize.
13/8/90 Mr. Owen?s half yearly report ? We have received no information during the past four months, but knowing that this boy is in an excellent home, under kind and careful training and ?.., we have every reason to know that he is well thinking and satisfactory progress.
6/1/91 Mr Owens half yearly report ? letter from employer 6/1/91 This letter asks that the agreement may be cancelled as the boy is ?bad??. Gives no particulars beyond the remark that he fears this boy ?has sprung from the dangerous class that we hear so much about.? 17/1/98 Letter from Mr Owen. Enclosing one from this young man?s wife to her mother-in-law. Applicant written to and asked if she knows where she is now living. Letter returned, 21-1-98, marked ?gone, no address?.
