Notes In 1910, Robert Skuse, 12, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 22 children from the Smyly Home of Dublin, Ireland, accompanied by Mr. Merry and a group of children from MacPherson Homes.
On December 24, 1915, at Orangeville, Ontario, Canada, Robert Skuse, 18, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces (Service Number: 928160; Force: Army; Unit: Canadian Infantry (Eastern Ontario Regiment); Division: 21st Battalion). He declared that he resided at R.R. No. 5, Mono Mills, Ontario, Canada; that he was born in Dublin, Ireland; that his next of kin was his friend, Arthur Gullam, who resided at Hespeler, Ontario; that he was a farm laborer; that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 4 inches in height; dark - good colour complexion; brown hair; brown eyes. He was a Methodist by faith. He had vaccination marks on his left arm.
Private Robert Skuse died on August 6, 1918, in France. He is buried and commemorated at the Longueau British Cemetery (grave reference I. A. 2.).
