NotesJames E SMILES and Easter PIGGIN were married in Poplar district in 1910 (Sep qtr, 1c 917). They had seven children between 1911 and 1923.

Easter died in 1925 in West Ham district aged 40 (Dec qtr, 4a 72). Possible death for James in West Ham district in 1927 aged 45 (mar qtr, 4a 116).

Frederick SMILES, aged 11, was one of a small party of boys bound for Fairbridge Farm School, Pinjarra, Western Australia.

Frederick died in 1989 and is buried at Kalgoorlie Cemetery with his wife Jean, who died in 2000 (born 1923).
