On August 22 1904, Jessie Smithers, 6, was admitted to Maidstone Street School, Hackney, her parent/guardian was given as Kate Smithers, her address as 26 Holme St. Her previous school was given as St Peter's. She left the school on 6 July 1905 when she was removed.

In 1914, Jessie Smithers, 16, arrived at Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, in a group of 98 Barnardo children en route to Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

Jessie G. Smithers returned to England on September 25, 1921, on the ship Metagama. She declared that her address while in England was 23 Army Street, Clapham, London, England; that she was a domestic; that she was 23 years of age; and intended to remain in England. She returned to Canada in 1922 and stayed there until July 1933, residing c/o Dr. Parsons, 6 Clarendon Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, when she once again traveled to England. Jessie Smithers returned to Canada on October 29, 1934, on the ship Aurania. She stated her employer was Mrs. T. R. Jarvis (Jane), Lake House, Second Street, Oakville, Ontario, Canada.

Jessie Smithers returned to Canada after a visit to England on September 25, 1956. She declared that her address in England had been 8 Avenue Road, New Malden, Surrey, England; and that she was a domestic.

A marriage was registered in 1960 at Battle, Sussex, England, between Jessie G. Smithers and Thomas Cubbon. [EDITORS NOTE: Thomas Cubbon, born February 5, 1886, in Liverpool, England, had resided in Canada since 1911. He was, as was Jessie, a naturalized citizen of Canada. He was not a home child.]

On November 4, 1960, Jessie Gertrude Cubbon returned to Canada with her husband Thomas Cubbon. She declared that her date of birth was December 9, 1898; that she was married; that she was a domestic; and that her address in England was 7 Myers Road East, Crosby, Liverpool, England.
