He declared that he was single; a liveryman; that he was born in London, England; that his next of kin was Mrs. Ackroyd, 24 Rossary Terrace, Holgate Road, York, England. He further declared that he currently was active in the 24 Kent Regiment. He is described as 5 foot 4 inches in height; clear & fair complexion; blue eyes; light brown hair, and Church of England by faith.

Private Bert Speller was Killed in Action on August 15, 1917. He is buried VIMY MEMORIAL CEMETERY, Pas de Calais, France.
