(In 1913, apparently despondent over his brother's move to Alberta, Thomas' brother, Leonard Spread, committed suicide in Ontario.)

York Rangers. He was described as 5 foot 7-1/2 inches in height; dark complexion; blue eyes; dark hair. He was a member of the Presbyterian faith.

On March 12, 1919, in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Thomas Spread, 34, farmer, resident of Alberta, born in Lancashire, England, son of Leonard Spread and Elizabeth Phythian; and Elizabeth Wharrick, 34, dressmaker, born in Yorkshire, England, daughter of Francis Wharrick and Margaret Jefferson.
