On October 6 1916, Alfred Starmer, 4, entered Norwood Schools from Grove Hospital, Tooting,
April 16 1926, Alfred Starmer, 14, entered Norwood Schools from Dr Barnardo Homes, informant-Mother, he was discharged into the care of Dr Barnardo Homes on 11 October 1927 for emigration to Sydney, Australia.
In 1937, Alfred is named in a newspaper article stating he came from Singleton to celebrate 'Founder's Day' and to unveil a memorial tablet given by Barnardo boys and girls and the staff to the memory of Mr. A. W. Green, a pioneer of the Barnardo Migration Scheme in New South Wales.
When his brother Richard (b. 1911) enlisted in the Australian Army he named Alfred as his next of kin.
