NotesAnnie Elizabeth was born in the Scarborough Union Workhouse to Mary Ann Stockdale. She lived in the workhouse and a nearby cottage home until she sailed to Canada in 1914 with her younger sister, Florence (called Florrie) Their older brother, Herbert, sailed a year earlier. The three siblings were able to keep in contact with each other and remained close for their entire lives. Florence, Herbert, and another BHC, Fred Salter, were all together at Annie and her husband Alf's fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1970.
