NotesGeorge, Jane, Annie and Thomas Sutton were admitted to Lambeth Workhouse on July 4, 1898, after being transferred from Croydon Union, and sent to the Lambeth Union Schools on July 5, 1898.

Their father, William, had deserted the family. Their mother, Sarah, was in receipt of outdoor relief from Croydon Union when the order of removal was obtained. She was then sent to prison for neglecting her children who were admitted to Croydon Workhouse and transferred to Lambeth Union.

Jane Sutton was adopted by Board of Guardians on July 9, 1902. She was sent to Grove Fever Hospital, Tooting, on May 29, 1905.

Annie Sutton was adopted by Board of Guardians on July 9, 1902.

Thomas Sutton was adopted by Board of Guardians on July 9, 1902.

George Sutton was discharged to Barnardo's Home on August 1, 1900.

In 1900, George Sutton, 11, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 101 Barnardo boys en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Age 15, first class home, employed at general chores, healthy, attends Methodist Church, well behaved. Terms-$100 on April 1 1906 and three years schooling. He is naturally a clever boy and has done well at school which he attended from 1st October to this spring. They are well satisfied with his progress considering his age. He looks exceedingly well and has grown quite tall.
