1911 Canadian Census records place Duncan Tope as a single male born in Aug 1894 Scotland. He arrived in Canada in 1903. He's a Domestic in the household of Bertha Helena and Robert Tilbert Farrell.
Attestation papers were signed 4 Jan 1916 in Guelph, Ontario. Duncan Blair Tope states he was born in Abredeen, Scotland on 6 Aug 1895. His Next of Kin is his brother, Blair Tope of Ripley, Ontario. A later written address was 123 Curtis Street, St. Thomas, Ontario. 5'5 1/2" in height with blue eyes and light brown hair, he had an oval scar 1 1/2" long on the right side of his neck and 3 large and 3 small vaccination scars on his left arm. His religion was listed as Methodist.
25 Dec 1916 in Elgin County, Ontario, Duncan Tope married Carrie Ada Abel. He lists that he was born in Aberdeen, Scotland about 1895 and that his mother's name was Mary Annie Pollard and his father was George Albert Tope.
He survived the War.
The Elgin County Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society has a photograph of the Saint Thomas Fire Department from 21 Dec 1929 that includes Duncan Blair Tope.
Lilly Spencer Blair Pollard is listed in the England & Wales National Probate Calendar Index of Wills and Administrations in 1951. Of Armada Road, Cawsand, Corwall. A spinster, she died 24 May 1951 in Lamellion Hospital in Liskeard. She left her estate to Lily James, wife of Charles James.
