Notes On June 10 1921, Josiah Torode, 10, arrived in Canada on SS Scandinavian, he stated he currently lived in a home but would go into farming in Canada, he was born in Channel Islands, his passage was paid by Dr Barnardo Homes, destination was Mr John W Hobday, 50-52 Peter St, Toronto, his next of kin was his Uncle-Josiah Norman Lowe, Sauvages Lane, St Sampsons, Guernsey
On Jan 2 1924, Josiah Norman Torode, 13, died at Muskoka River. He had spent 3 years in Canada but only 4 months at place of death. Informant-Guardian, Robert Bruce, Dr Barnardo Homes. Buried in Stephenson Twp Cemetery. Cause given as accidental drowning. An Inquest was held.
