NotesAlfred was one of 23 children aged 8 to 13 who arrived in Fremantle, Western Australia from Southampton aboard 'Jervis Bay' in February 1934, bound for Fairbridge Farm School, Pinjarra. He was 13 years old.

His mother Mabel died in 1929 aged 36. Younger brother John (b. 1925) was also at Fairbridge, arriving Jan 1937.
