In 1901, her brother Sydney, 12, was living in Chase Farm Schools, Enfield, Middlesex while her sister Rose now 17 was in service as a general servant in West Ham, Essex.

Age 13, very suitable home, employed as a nurse girl, very healthy, attends Presbyterian church, and Public school during winter months, character excellent. Terms-Board, Schooling and Clothing; at 14 years of age wages. This little girl gives Mr and Mrs Armstrong entire satisfaction and they are much attached to her. She is regarded as one of the family and is well cared for. A very desirable home.

Age 14, employed at general housework, health good but Mrs Armstrong states not robust. Attends Presbytarian Church, excellent character. Wages at 14 years of age. Mary Trenter remained with this family for two and half years and got along very well. She was next placed with with Mrs Evans, an estimable lady nearby but remained only a few weeks when she returned to the Barnardo Girls Home, Peterborough. She is to be found a new situation shortly.
