Notes His father passed away and his mother remarried. Mother died and step-father sold him to another man. It is unknown what that other man did to him but he ran away and was picked up and placed with Barnardos at the age of 9. He arrived in Canada shortly before his 10th birthday. He was placed with a farmer in Kent County, Ontario and was mistreated, made to sleep in a barn, malnourished etc. No chance for school. He ran away from there at the age of 14 and made his way in the world. He became a supervisor with Ontario Hydro, fathered 9 children and died at the age of 49. His was a very hard life but his children say he had a wonderful sense of humour.
