In 1907, Charles Vernall, 8 (along with brothers, Thomas Vernall, 15, and William Vernall, 10) arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, along with 137 children from the Middlemore Home, Birmingham, England.

Charles and Gertrude Shaw Vernall had one child, Marian Vernall.
