In 1907, Charles Vernall, 8 (along with brothers, Thomas Vernall, 15, and William Vernall, 10) arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, along with 137 children from the Middlemore Home, Birmingham, England.

In 1911, Charles Vernall, 10, was shown as a domestic to Joseph and Annie Ritchie, in Wicklow, Carleton, New Brunswick, Canada. His date of birth is shown as May 1901, and his immigration year as 1907.

He was described as weighing 137 pounds; 5 foot 4 inches in height; light complextion; brown hair; blue eyes. He stated he had been born in Worcester, England.

On March 20, 1929, Charles Vernall married Gertrude Alma Shaw in Kent, Carleton, New Brunswick, Canada. (Number: 1232; Reference: B4/1929; Microfilm: F19696.)

Charles and Gertrude Shaw Vernall had one child, Marian Vernall.

Charles Vernall died in Bath, New Brunswick, Canada, on January 2, 1999, at the age of nearly 100 years. Gertrude Alma Shaw Vernall died January 6, 1982, at Bath, New Brunswick, Canada.
