Attestation papers signed 23 Sep 1914 in Valcartier, Quebec. Thomas William Vowles was born in Paddick Wood, Kent, England on 1 Dec 1892. Next of Kin was bis brother, John Vowles of 14 Archer Street, Soho West London, England. Occupation was listed as a Mechanic. Previous military experience with the 90th WR for 3 years. 5'5" in height with blue eyes and light hair, he had four vaccination marks on his left arm. Religion was listed as Wesleyan.

Commonwealth War Graves Registers states he was Killed in Action. He was buried at Dainville Communal Cemetery, in Dainville, Nord Pas de Calais, France. Plot: A. 22.
Canadian Virtual War Memorial notes he was brother of John Vowles, of 6, Stepney Causeway, London.
