NotesRobert Watson was admitted to Lambeth Union Schools on October 29, 1891, from 8 Glasshouse Street. His sister, Elizabeth Watson, was admitted on November 26, 1891. Their mother, Jane Watson, had deserted them leaving the children with the putative father, Fred Jones, but taking one child with her. The mother was a married woman, but she had left her husband to live with Fred Jones. He was the one who applied for the admission of the children stating that he would contribute towards the maintenance. He was asked to attend the Board in November, 1891, but the notice which was sent to him was returned marked 'house unoccupied.'

Elizabeth Watson was discharged January 10, 1899, into service at Mrs McDiarmid, The Elms, Stanmore in Harrow.

Robert Watson was discharged to Barnardo's Home on June 12, 1901.

In 1901, Robert Watson, 11, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a large group of Barnardo children, 239 to Toronto, Ontario; 68 to Winnipeg, Manitoba; 20 to Russell, Manitoba; and 3 to Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

Feb 11 1903, with Richard Holtham, farmer, Moline, Manitoba,

Age 14, very comfortable home, employed choring, health generally good, attends Methodist Church regularly, has not attended Public School as yet, but will go next Spring and following one for four months in each year, character-honest and truthful, and as far as working-a good willing boy-four years agreement from 1st April 1902 to 1st April 1906-$10, $20, $30 and $40 per annum, respectively, with board, clothing and necessaries. I find this boy happily placed with a good and kind Canadian family who express themselves well satisfied with the boy, who on his part, has privately assured me he is amply clothed, well treated and contented
