NotesWalter Stanley was born to Catherine Julia Wetherall at the Salvation Army Rescue House in 1895. No father is listed on the birth certificate. Details of her stay are documented in the Girls' Statement Books held by the Salvation Army in London.

There is no evidence that Albert (Edward Albert WEATHERALL, arrived Jun 1913 aboard Corinthian) was Stanley's 'real' brother, but when they met as young men in Canada they both believed it could be true and lived most of their adult life as brothers.
