Attestation papers were signed 22 Sep 1914 in Valcartier, Quebec for Thomas Whalley. Thomas states his was born in Peterboro Ontario on 28 Mar 1894, however we believe he was actually born in England. His Next of Kin was Robert O Larmmer, no relation stated, of Mallbrook, Ontario. Thomas's trade was listed as Prospector. He had previous military experience at Niagara. 5'6" in height with grey eyes and hazel hair, one vaccination mark and a scar on his left wrist. Religion is listed as Presbyterian.
Commonwealth War Graves Registers states that Thomas was Killed in Action. His grave was lost, there are at least 6 different notes taken about his memorial, the final resting place recorded is Poelcapelle British Cemetery, Langemark-Poelkapelle, West Flanders, Belgium. Plot: Poelcapelle German Cem. No. 2 Mem. 4.
The Canadian War Memorial states that Thomas was the Foster son of Mary Ann Bartholomew, of Gower Farm, Woodchurch, Ashford, Kent, England.
