NotesThe following records have been discerned for Private George Whitehead.

1901 English Census for George Whitehead lists him as a 9 year old boarder in the household of Sophia and George Jessop. George was born in 1892 in South Shields, Durham, England. There are no other Whitehead family members in residence.

1911 Canadian Census records show George F Whitehead as a Servant in the household of Ida and Arthur Weldon in Middlesex East, Ontario.

Attestation papers signed for George Whitehead on 1 Jan 1916 in Port Hope, Ontario. George was born 25 Feb 1892 in South Shields, Durham, England. His occupation is Farm Labourer. His Next of Kin is Mrs. Lizzie Amos, his sister, in Yorkshire, England. 5'4 1/2" in height, with hazel eyes and dark brown hair. His religion was listed as Methodist.

Commonwealth War Graves Registers states that George was killed in action on 8 Jun 1917. Son of the late Thomas Taylor Whitehead; husband of the late Ellen Whitehead. There was no further Next of Kin listing on his card. George's final resting place is unknown, his name is listed on the Vimy Memorial.

Recipient of the Military Medal, British War Medal and Victory Medal.
