In the 1911 Census, William T Brailey, 27, wife Elizabeth, 34, sister Mary Emma, 22, and servant Ernest Whitworth, 16, in Mono, Dufferin, Ontario.

Attestation papers signed 15 Mar 1916 in Toronto, Ontario for Ernest Whitworth list his address as 8 Buchanan Street, Toronto, Ontario. He was born 24 Feb 1895 in Lancashire, England. His Next of Kin is listed as his sister, Mrs. Edith Potts, 13 Copster Hill Road, Oldham, Lancashire, England. Occupation is listed as Factory Worker. 5'6" in height, blue eyes and brown hair, birthmark on right side of neck and scar from hernia operation. Religion listed as Methodist.

Commonwealth War Graves Registers states that Ernest was previously reported wounded and missing. For official purposes he was declared deceased on 15 Aug 1917. His remains were not recovered, he is listed on the Vimy Memorial.
