NotesFrancis Laurence Younger was born 14 Apr 1895 in Kennington, London, England to Phoebe and Robert Marshall Younger. He had at least three siblings, Robert W, Arthur and Hilda M. He came to Canada aboard the 'Virginian' in 1909 with Waifs and Strays at the age of 14.

According to his attestation papers, Francis had previously served with the 53rd Sherbrook Regiment in Quebec. He was 5'5" with hazel eyes and dark hair. He lists his religion as 'Church of England'.

His Circumstance of Casualty card lists his foster mother, Mrs. W. Shaw as his next of kin. It was at the Shaw's household (137 Bridge Street, Sherbrook, Quebec) that Francis died of Nephritis on 30 Nov 1919. His record notes that there was no decision listed by the B.P.C. about his cause of death, however it was filed as a military claim and he was buried privately in Quebec.
