WW1 Interned Knockaloe POW No 16827, entered 15 June 1915. Report in Peel City Guardian 11 May 1918 states 'High Bailiff LaMohe on Sat. at Knockaloe Camp conducted an inquest on the body of an interned alien named Friedrich Johann KOENIG. Major Fife Scot, assistant commandant, Camp 2, said the deceased was a german and was interned in Camp 2, Compound 2, No 6932. He was 32 years of age and was a butcher. He was arrested at New Washington, Durham on Oct 23rd 1914 and was transferred to Knockaloe from Stratford on June 16th 1915. He died in Camp 2 Hospital on May 3rd. The deceased's wife lived at Poplar House, New Washington. ID 1652 Heinrich CUTTS butcher who had been in England 32 years, identified the body. He said the deceased had been 14 years in England and had married an english woman. John Ernst, an Austrian, also identified the body. Dr Kerman, resident medical officer, said that death was due to septicaemia and a verdict in accordance with that was returned'
