1911 Census - Ernst working as a chemical labourer.
WW1 Interned at Knockaloe, Isle of Man where he died. Inquest held and ID 24455 Ernst HOLCH confirmed he had known deceased 20 years, formerly worked as a butcher in Sunderland. Brother ID 282264 Heinrich HEPPERLE was also a witness at inquest and said he had not seen his brother for 12 years. He was not married. Information kindly supplied by Mrs Frances Coakley and report in Peel City Guardian 5 May 1917.
Ernst interred at Kirk Patrick Holy Trinity Churchyard, Patrick, IOM. In 1962 his remains were exhumed and reinterred in the Cannock Chase German Military Cemetery, Plot 14, Row 14. Source - Findagrave
