1939 Register at 116 Witham with Ann b 19 Feb 1881, sons Frederick, a pharmaceutical student and Eric, a pork butcher. Son Fred died 1981 in Hull.
Probate granted to Eric Kress, pork butcher, Richard Elmo Emslie, estate agent and Charles Joseph Maxwell Dowlton, solicitor. Frederick died at Royal Infirmary, Kingston upon Hull. Home address 43 Ellesmere Avenue.
Frederick, brother Gottfried and their brother in law Christian Wagner set up firm Kress & Wagner in Hull in 1899.They eventually had four shops. One in 82 Welbeck Street (Kress) and one at 163 Spring Bank (Wagner, who lived over the shop). The partnership was dissolved between the Kress brothers and Christian Wagner in 1933 when they had premises at 163 Spring Bank, 116 Witham, 431 Hessle Road and 463 Endike Lane. The partnership continued in the names of Frederick and Christian without Gottfried.
