In 1892, Jessie Bell, 9, arrived at Quebec, Canada, along with a group of 120 girls from the National Orphan Homes of Scotland, Bridge on Wier, Renfrewshire, Scotland, en route to Fairknowe Home, Brockville, Ontario, Canada. (possible sisters, Beatrice Bell, 3, and Jane Bell, 15, arrived in 1893 on the Carthaginian.)
