NotesMother Eleanor Cheshire, unmarried and living in Atcham workhouse in Shropshire 1901 with her three sons, one of whom was my grandfather Samuel. A younger daughter was housed with her aunt Mary Jane Bishop.
Martha Jane and Louisa Cheshire were with their mother in 1891, but were taken away from Eleanor in 1899 and taken to Barkingside.
The two girls sailed on the S.S. Tunisian and Alfred B. Owen wrote of their crossing in his diary (this appeared in Ups and Downs magazine in 1902).
They were taken to Hazelbrae and there is a brief note in Ups and Downs 1902 to say that they saw each other every day.
Last known to Barnardo's in 1907/9.
