Notes1891 English Census for widowed William Tipton places him in St. Alkmond, Shropshire, England. In residence is Charles (12), Edward (10), George (8) and Richard (6). Visitor Martha Davies (54) is also in residence.

Ships register shows a George Tipton age 10 arriving Canada 29 July 1899.

1901 Census shows a George Tipton as a home boy with the Ball Family in the district of Muskoka and Parry Sound Ontario. His birthday is shown as August 15, 1889.

George's brother, Sergeant Edward Leonard Tipton who was also a British Home Child, was killed in action 9 Oct 1918.
