NotesA birth registration was found for Percy Bell Carnohan: Year of Registration: 1897; Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep; District: Brighton; County: Sussex, East Sussex; Volume: 2b; Page: 202. Parents: Alexander Stewart B Carnohan and Sarah Anna Funnell, married 1896, Brighton, Sussex, England.

In 1905, P. B. Carnohan, 8, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of Barnardo children consisting of 87 boys to Toronto, Ontario, and 89 girls to Peterborough, Ontario and accompanied by Mrs. Clare Butterworth, 41; Mrs. Alice Walker, 40; Mabel Walker, 18; and Mrs. Manning.

On September 26, 1923, at Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Percy Bell Carnohan, 25, labourer, born in England to Alexander S. Carnohan and Sarah Bell; and Ida Ellen Fish, 22, operator, born in Ontario, Canada, to George Davis Fish and Jane Bonnis.

A researcher received a letter from Percy dated September 4, 1978. It reads in part:

"I was a Barnardo boy who arrived in Canada on Oct 10th 1905 at the ripe old age of 8 years. I never knew I had a sister until my brother came over to Canada from Bermuda. He was with the First Norfolk Regiment Band of which was the leading Band at the C.N.E. in 1925."

He goes on to explain that it took him 60 years to find his sister and it was thorough the Salvation Army. She had married and her new name was Bagg. They had moved from London to Ilfracombe, North Devon.
