Thomas Earnest Atkinson's mother had died in 1899 and he and hi sisters remained with their father until his death in 1901. Thomas was placed with Barnardos and was sent to Canada on the S.S. Dominion in 1902. Thomas is also mentioned in the July/Aug 1902 edition of the Barnardo Magazine Ups and Downs - his placement is given, Atkinson,Thomas Ernest Mr. John A. Mellow Comber, Ont.
A 1911 census records Thomas as a domestic living with the Hellman family in South Essex County, Ontario.
In 1918 Thomas enlisted and served during the First World War. He listed on of his sisters back in England as his next of kin and his address was listed as Comber, ON.
Thomas married Hazel Nettie Taylor, a local Comber girl, in Tilbury,ON in the year 1919. The couple had 8 children and remained in Essex county, ON.
Thomas died Windsor, ON on Nov. 27,1962.
