Parents: William Aldcroft and Mary Jane Speakman, married 1891 in Altrincham, Cheshire, England.

John Arthur Aldcroft was christened on October 12, 1898, at Aston by Sutton, Cheshire, England. Parents names: William and Mary Jane Aldcroft.

In 1909, John A Aldcroft, 10 (along with brother, George H Aldcroft, 13) arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 19 McPherson children accompanied by Miss Pickford and en route to Belleville, Ontario, Canada.

On November 22, 1915, at Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, John Arthur Aldcroft, 18, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he resided at Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada; that he was born in Altrincham, Cheshire, England; that his next of kin was his mother, Mrs. Mary Jane Aldcroft, who resided at Regent Road, Altrincham, Cheshire, England; that he was a rubber worker; that his birth date was April 30, 1897; and that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 4 inches in height; medium dark complexion; blue eyes; brown hair.

John Arthur Aldcroft died on November 12, 1917, in Belgium. He is buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery (Grave Ref. No. XXVII. A. 17A.)
